Lol this is a good way to put it. It's easy for us bystanders to take potshots at you while being completely isolated from the reality of the situation. I probably would not have mentioned UE because that opens up a massive can of worms... Being "just into photography" is pretty relatable and easy to explain. In general I'd say that the shorter the conversation, the better it is likely to go.

Obviously things worked out for you so you know what you're doing. Congrats on a narrow escape and thanks for sharing the story.
