This was the main complex of a foundry that made rebar and fencing. The fencing facility was just up the road in an old school (photos posted on a previous thread here: http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=121927 )

As with the school, not much was known about this place other than it closed about 15 years ago.

I think the lawnmower and car are having a contest to see who can be least useful. The lawnmower is clearly not doing anything, but the car still wins. It's still up via a hydraulic jack, for goodness sake.

I checked the trunk half hoping to find a body in it. Nothing in there but trash 😞

I took Murky7 and a friend of his out to a few favorites of mine to show him some Rurex. We arrived at the old school that used to be the offices and shipping point for this rebar foundry first. The school had been demolished a few months after I had visited. I spoke with the tenants who were using the gym and the rest of the area and they said that the city came down hard on the owner to either fix the roof or tear the place down. Guess he chose the latter...

Here are some updated shots of the rebar plant. About 10 acres was recently sold to someone who hasnt done anything with it but the owners went in and cleaned up a lot of stuff. Personally I liked it the way it was before...

Damn...that car is much more trashed than when I went there about 5 years ago. If you want me to post my photos I can...although I don't think they are that exciting.

Sure man - I love your work! Just say how long ago it was so we can have a point of reference. The car and a ton of other stuff are gone now and it was only about 8 months ago that I was there last. Too bad really, all the junk gave the place a lot of character.

Wow this place HAS changed! Looks like there was even more stuff when you went than when I first saw it. The lawnmower has still made it though! Thanks for sharing man. I love seeing how locations change over time. Unfortunately for this place, other than the crane the "wow factor" has pretty much disappeared.

lol thanks! I wish I had figured out the Flickr hosting thing a long time ago. The compression on the uploader here kills images! Still working on the editing thing but I dont want to look like the self promoting dipshit (who shall not be named) and have overworked images. Still trying to find my own voice in this whole photography thing. There are SO many great photographers here with such different styles - I wish I could incorporate them all!

The black and white 9497 is my absolute favorite out of all of these. Wonderful place.
