While out doing other things, I happened to stumble across this heavily fire-damaged abandoned house in Canton. Knowing it would be a quick explore, I made a little time and returned later in the week with my camera. The wood frame house was constructed in 1895 and was left abandoned at an undetermined point. It burned in July 2014 in a fire that was later labeled "suspicious." As far as I know, the cause of the fire was never officially determined but arson is extremely likely. It's not exactly a groundbreaking explore but I wanted to share it before it inevitably reaches the top of the demolition list.

2. Most of the first floor was not damaged by fire, however you can see the delineation on the walls between the smoke-damaged and undamaged portions.

6. The area around the stairway appeared to be the fire's area of origin. It and the small room next to it were the only fire-damaged portions of the first floor.

8. As we all know, heat rises. Although only a small portion of the downstairs burned, the fire decimated the second floor. The auditor's site lists the house as having three bedrooms, which are almost unrecognizable today.

11. Me at the top of the steps, courtesy of my friend's iPhone. There exists a series of interesting pictures of me trying to climb the broken steps but those will never see the light of day. I'm very glad there were a lot of handholds on that wall to the right and that the staircase itself was relatively narrow.
