| | | Chicagoans: stay out of my building, moved to Damen silos. < on 2/15/2016 8:49 AM > | Reply with Quote
| | | Hey urbexers, fyi I'd stay out of the old Wrigley building on 35th... 2 nights ago someone put a firebomb explosion on a 4th floor, which either shattered all the windows or the fire fighters broke the windows to let the smoke out. But there was an explosion cuz I heard it and went back to sleep. Woke up an hour and a half later to a little smell of smoke and left. Saw police and fire trucks surrounding all the buildings so escaped. In my old room of the fired building I left a piece of paper on the bed to make the "Welcome to my home, college student staying for the winter" and my phone number, which I imagine the firemen took a photo of. Now I will be amist their investigation. But the problem is now they upgraded security, I note the initially started off working longer shifts or so, I presume they are now there 24/7. 2 days later I saw 2 cars, 1 empty, which I presume they were going in the building. So I moved out.. am staying at the Damen silos, in the underground system. What's so strange to me as it hasn't even showed up on the Chicago Breaking News, I guess they don't want the city to know about it yet, I even Google searched " [...] " and all the 2013 story popped up from 37th/Ashland fire. Perhaps there will be an article when the investigation finishes.

| | | Wow, that's pretty crazy! Glad you got out safely. I wonder if you are now having any second thoughts about all that random stuff you were posting about the Latin Kings and what-not. Possible suspect in an arson investigation, CHECK! Making strange statements in an online forum, CHECK! Kind of a strange, loner-type individual with seemingly weird social norms, CHECK! Be careful, be safe, and don't forget to ask for a lawyer before saying anything to the cops!

| | | Yea it certainly could be Latin Kings. I mean I'm part of a Chicago gang forum and am a open critic, and also posted about my abandoned building. Posted by kenfagerdotcom You need anything to get through the winter? Food or something? Why are you roughing it?
Nah I'm rich savin up like this. Posted by jonrev There was a guy living down there for awhile some years ago. David "Gone" Brault was his name, there's a doc on him which may be of use to you.
You know I saw that video. Was he for real? Anyways, 1 large room in the basement is all trashed up. But he might have been in an upper floor.

| | | Posted by mookster then the police showed up just as we were leaving...
And the police didn't do anything, right? They let me in... Posted by jonrev Probably the most high profile exploring and graffiti spot in Chicago. Transformers did to that place what The Dark Knight did to Brach's several years ago.
Didn't know the Brach factory was in the Batman movie actually. Are you talking the 2005 movie? What's interesting to me, the Damen silos doesn't seem to attract Hispanic or Black people. (I mean, the only Hispanic and Black people I've seen are ones who affiliate with White people.). And I haven't seen any gang-related graffiti, or by tagging crews. And for me some of the art or quotes or graffiti it seems it was obviously done by White people. But wasn't this place popular before the Dark Knight movie?
