Ran into a few unhappy guardians over the years, but never angry, armed security police…until now. Known informally as the Falkenhagen Bunker, this would have probably been the coolest explore ever. As it turned out, it was the shortest ever. I don’t speak much German and they didn’t speak much English . . . and they didn’t want my meager $25 dollars either. Interesting information I found out about the current owner AFTER my visit. The story is longer, but not as interesting to tell as it was to experience.

I can't find it in the database - anyone else been there with better luck?

These are some similar angels of the shots I got . . . before I was made to format the drive :-/

All I was able to come out with were these two shots of my hasty retreat. Still, how many people can say they were on an abandoned top secret WWII military weapons testing facility and walked on the same cobblestone path as the notorious psychopath dictator; then confiscated by the USSR and used for who knows what.

On the way back to Berlin I stopped at a few small towns and took some shops. Looking forward to going back in the summer when it’s not dark at 5PM
(OK, two have nothing to do with abandonments, but it's still urban)

...the other two wouldn't upload, and I'm to lazy to do an edit.

They made you reformat the drive? Wow.

How do they even convey something as esoteric as "reformat your drive" if neither of you speaks the other's language?

Nice shots though, and a cool bit of history.

Yeah, they way it went down was he pointed at the camera and said “delete”. In an effort to avoid being ‘taken in’ while on a business trip, immediate compliance seemed to be the best course of action, so he watched as I went thru the procedure. If I had deleted them I may have been able to recover them, but again, my logic was, if I appeared harmless and ignorant, and didn’t take up much of their time, they’d be more apt to just tell me to go away. After they got off the phone with ‘higher-ups’, they tried to explain what I could only interpret as the facility is going to somehow, sometime, be made a tourist attraction. After very brief looking at the ground struggling for words, they stopped, looked up at me, and said, “Auf Wiedersehen”. I said, “Tschuss”, turned and tucked tail, taking those two shots on the way out from my phone in the car!

Falkenhagen Bunker was used by Soviet Army as it's primary command post outside of Russia. Following the collapse of the DDR (East Germany), the Soviet Army packed up and left.

The NATO equivalent is in Mons, Belgium.
