An unexpected encounter (no pics)

So set the scene, two urbex friends (one rookie, one seasoned) and I had a long day of scouting. We had one more place to check out, that we had scouted before but we hadn't gotten a very good look. We stopped at Subway on the way there, getting dinner (as it was ~6:30 pm). It was dark and we made our way to the location with our bicycles. The location we were scouting was located in the marshes next to our town. We park and lock our bikes a walking distance away, and make our way up the gravel path to the location.
As we slowly approached the building, we heard noises and what sounded like music. About halfway up the path, my seasoned urbex friend and I pulled out our flashlights and continued our approach, while my rookie friend kept his mother on speedial (joking). When we shined our flashlights forward, the stray dogs/ coyotes (I couldn't tell) darted to the side of the path and we saw a large black SUV. We then all turned off our lights and discussed our options. My seasoned friend and I wanted to talk to the people in the SUV, to see if they were friendly or not. Besides, we had a lifeline and I had a pocketknife if push really came to shove. My rookie friend wanted to bolt and go home. So making a compromise, our rookie friend would stay back while my other friend and I approached the people in the vehicle.
Once we got about 15 ft of the van, we saw and heard some weird stuff. First off, the back of the SUV was open and there appeared to be a tattered drum set on the gravel road. Second, the drummer was half naked and pounding on the drums with all his might, with no obvious rhythm. Then, the singer was shouting and chanting in gibberish and screaming at the sky. In addition, we saw what looked like a janky fireplace build in the center. And to wrap it all up, we saw a driver in glasses with a ton of necklaces. What happened next, I have to admit, almost made me piss myself. We shined our lights on the driver, and he shielded his eyes and gritted his teeth. We turned off our lights and waved and said a greeting. However, the driver put the keys in the ignition and turned on the bright headlights (we were directly in front of the SUV). We said we were just looking to explore the old factory, but then he began to rev the engine. My friend and I started backing up to the side of the road and told our rookie friend to get ready to run. Then the driver began creeping forward with the SUV. I told my friends to run like hell on the side of the road and the SUV drove in hiccups after us, rapidly accelerating and braking. Keep in mind the amazing drummer and vocals were still playing while this happened. We ran like all hell back to our bikes, tailed by the SUV driver. We ran like all hell down the road, sprinting with our shadows dancing in the headlights. We got to our bikes, unlocked them in a flurry, and hauled a** back home.
We came back at a later date and found the ashes of the flame, and we explored the factory without disturbance. Sorry for the long essay, but this was the worst/best urbex experience I've ever had. Also, props to user Bobowitz, my seasoned friend for having my back during the encounter. I hope you guys enjoyed my story, and stay safe out there friends!

I would be inclined to get his license plate and report this to the police if I were in your shoes.

Not meaning to be a dick here, but isn't that hypocritical? OP was attempting to trespass somewhere he shouldn't be and do something he shouldn't do and he got spooked off by someone else doing what they shouldn't do in a place they shouldn't be....and the OP should call the authorities? I don't think so, unless he surely saw something terrible going on, which it doesn't seem like to me.

Good story! I got a good chuckle reading "we wanted to go talk to them to see if they were friendly or not," I thought to myself I sure as hell hope they were friendly or else you and your friend are screwed! haha. You guys got some balls to do that, I would of just left and come back another time or stealthed around them if possible.
