Sensors to retrofit unique film cams have been around for at least 10 years. Ran into a pro using one in '06. It needed to be tethered to a laptop. Think it was a 32 mp and replaced a something like a 5x6 plate, but it's been a while. It was $$$$.

With the advanced AF, lense optics, exposure metering, etc. I take a new cam any day over a make over 35mm body.

2013 article, and the crowd fund attempt raised 8%, so I'm guessing this didn't take off.

There was an attempt to do the same for Super 8 cameras, too... AFAIK it never went anywhere, either.

Didn't Pontiac make an automatic transmission you had to shift manually?

Digital exceeded film's bit depth 10 years ago.

I would be more than happy to shoot film if I had my own dark room. But I don't.

It's pretty pointless. No sense in it, film is just as fun to shoot with anyhow. Old lenses can be adapted to new bodies so no need to use the old cameras IMO anyhow.

Yes, i believe Kodak is making something like this. 8 MM pack film, that you shoot and send in to get developed and digitized. I wonder if it will take off.

Depending on the size, resolution, and quality of sensors available, on a wide media cam designed for plates or larger than 35 mm this solution could be superior. Benefits; higher resolution, less diffraction and signal noise.

There's that, however I was talking about an actual digital adapter to stick inside your S-8 cam. No film whatsoever.
