Australian army coast installation from 1943 (Sydney).

What started as a wet and cold week ended with myself, Miles, Shark, Rusty, Blossom and Philosopher heading out to the installation on a Friday night. It was very wet and muddy, so shin deep in we all went.

This was my first time bringing our my new Sony E-mount since switching from Nikon, so I had to experiment with the 30mm and 18mm as i went. Apologies if some pics are little off as a result. Some shots are with tripod some are without. Please voice your constructive opinion (without assaults if possible).

We are all hoping that flooded tunnels didn't give us tetanus, or fesses or who knows what as a souvenir.

I love the composition of a lot of these, #11 specifically. Some critique:

- Many of them feel a little soft, barely out of focus.

- In #1, the harsh flashlight light to the right distracts from the endlessness of the hallway, and what would otherwise be a good shot. This one might look badass in B+W.

- I love the composition of #2, but almost the entire right side is completely black. Some texture there would really even out the photo.

- Loving #3, the colors are tasty. Maybe tone down the whites/highlights though because the light inside the shack is a little distracting.

- Not the biggest fan of #4, it feels more like a snapshot than a thought out photo.

- #5 has some serious potential, I love the vignetting. If you can sharpen the background, this would be nice.

- I like #6 a lot.

- #7 might benefit from some brightening towards the bottom, where things are actually going on, rather than all the light being at the top.

- #8 feels like a snapshot, but I like the character...

- #9 also feels like a snapshot, not much going on here.

- #10 has an interesting subject, but is a little purple for me unless that's what you're going for. Perhaps B+W would work nicely here.

- I like #11 a lot. The background is a little soft though.

- #12, #13 are a little blurry.

- #14 is interesting, also might look nice in B+W. I feel as if too much of the frame is completely dark.

In short, I like your eye, and some of these have great potential. If you took more time to work out the shots, make sure they're in focus and sans motion blur, etc., some of these would be very nice. Most of them are nicely exposed as well. Good job and keep shooting.

Your kind and constructive words will make me think twice next time to try and capture a better pic. My only issue here was that my group of people was forever moving with torches, walking into shots, shining lights where they shouldn't have etc.

That's why urban exploring is rarely a group activity. If you go back there on your own or with one or two people, you'll be able to take the same pictures and get them to come out way better.
