It was a lower on the ratings kind of year all the way around. I explored less, anxietied more, and learned the meaning of family drama.

2015 was what it was.
I'm glad newness could be around the next corner.

A tour from behind my lens:

1 Getting into here was a celebration of its own. And a solo explore to boot.

2 Another new find

3 That time I took a Steven B shot

4 When I realized that enjoyed jamming 35mm film in a 1930's six-16 folding camera and seeing what came out

5 And then I kept doing it with rarer brands of film

6 And then I loaded film in backwards to see what came out and learned to love red

7 I was able to play tour guide for a friend

8 And to not fall through 5 stories while catching a sunset

9 I revisited some homes to find everything untouched from last year

10 Found some "new" homes nestled further right nearby

11 Found some records

12 Found some record players

13 Actually played some records inside an abandonment

14 Went to a new school

15 Mostly stared out the windows though

16 Tried to master the piano

17 Subdued the piano

18 Indoctrinated a couple friends into the underground scene and a backpack full of colored flashlights

19 Mostly made them press buttons for me

20 I served my church

21 It was a great year for storm chasing

22 And there were plenty of close calls

23 I explored some new holes

25 I watched others burn

26 And then returned to the surface on my own

27 I learned of rage

I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other.”
― Mary Shelley, Frankenstein

28 And embraced it

29 I learned to stop on the side of the road more

30 And shoot off the side of the road with cross processed film

31 And appreciate others' art

32 I claimed my destiny

33 I took a road trip with my cell phone

34 And actually explored with a new person when I got there

35 I learned to follow train tracks until they literally turn to wood

36 And managed not to blow up inside

37 I found more of my favorite subject, silos

38 Took my wife to my favorite camping spot

39 I plugged in

40 And found more industry around

41 And above me

42 I found whole towns deserted

43 Visited some junk yards

44 Visited some more houses

45 Did some drive by's

46 Got chased and narrowly escaped

That's enough of a sample I imagine. Hoping for more ahead.

Thanks
-Michael

Well despite your hardships it looks you've had quite a successful year. Hard to choose a favorite here, but I'd say it's between #18 and your "paint-me-like-one-of-your-french-girls" pose in #17.

They ... really show the adventure.

Thanks that's a good way to put it. That's how I hope they'd feel to those I share back at home with.

You're definitely one of my favorites on here by far. Always inspiring. I always think you take shots I would take in a given situation, but much better. You have a great eye.

In 2016 you'll get even better. It's inevitable.

And, kudos to your Steven b shot. I've yet to get one I can say that about.
