My first official exploration - abandoned country church

Starting out small I guess! This tiny abandoned church is in southern Ohio and is my first official exploration. The grounds are (I think) maintained by the township along with a cemetery across the street but the building has sat empty for awhile. The front door is even stuck open as to say "come on in..."

(Constructive criticism welcome!)

Nice work! Ohio has a ton of these old rural churches and schools and they're always fun to see.

so many churches just left to the elements. Love the third photo. Great job for your first explore!

Thank you! I used to live on the road this church is on and somehow drove by it almost every day for two years without every looking inside, although I wondered about it. (I did check out the cemetery a few times though, love old stones.) I'd like to know when it stopped being used but couldn't find info online...old neighbor would probably know I guess. At any rate it has me super excited to do more!

Thanks very much for sharing. It is nice to see that, environmental effects aside, the building is largely undamaged (unlike most in the Detroit area...)

That surprised me a little, but there is house very nearby so maybe that deterred would-be troublemakers. There was another unused little church not too far away from this one that was destroyed due to arson awhile back, but it was at the end of a dead-end gravel road in the middle of the woods (there is still a neat old cemetery there though!).

Fantastic! I really like old churches, been a while since I saw one in the flesh unfortunately. That piano is remarkably in tact compared to most I've seen in buildings that empty. Lovely light, too.
