Posted by Archer I envy you for the dry mines there... we've come across several in Northern and Central Ontario that looked promising, but are partially flooded and we didn't have the right gear for them. Would kill for a non-wet mine for a change.

Get a kayak! :p I've lived in the midwest pretty much all of my life and we did a partially flooded mine out there that we kayaked through, it was AWESOME! I'm actually going to post a thread about it when I get it written up.
The only real downside to the dry mines is all the dust. Even with a dust mask you'll be blowing dirt out of your nose for a week afterwards. Plus when you're rappelling down shafts sometimes the airflow will blow all that dust up in your face.
