Made a quick visit this morning to an abandoned paper mill just a short drive from my house. This place was basically gutted by two fires (one in the 60's, one in 2012) but there's still some really cool brick and metalwork to be found.

These are my favorites from the gallery, the rest can be found on my Flickr and on my website.

Chillin place.

Your exposures are a little harsh. Some compositions are lacking any kind of thing to draw your attention. Just kind of jumbled. And, get rid of that water mark.

Anyway. Just some cc.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I think I probably should have stepped down the ISO and put a CPL on the lens. I was dealing with a lot of direct sunlight and should've known better.

I think I might go back next week and try to get some better composed shots.

Edit: Also, I'll get rid of the watermark in future uploads - it's kind of a pain in the ass to add it to every single picture anyway.

At least maybe make it less harsh in some. I have watermarks in my photos and I started out using them strongly and slowly got them down to where it doesn't detract at all (I hope) from the image. I did it cause some of my stuff was popping up elsewhere in google searches.

Anyway, the place looks awesome. I went to a paper mill this summer, also burned in the 60s, and it's nothing but a shell. But the way they were built is fascinating enough to make a few good shots. I agree with that some of the composing could be better and to tone it down a bit. Hope you go back and shoot again. I'd love to see more of the place.

This place used to have some really awesome cars in it. Old BMWs, Saabs, Beetles, and some little British sports cars. They were removed following the fire in 2012.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I'm sorry I didn't get to see the old cars in there - I was in the area before the fire, but I never bothered to go over and take pictures since I was taking a bit of a break from UE.

puddlejumper, any suggestions on how to make a more subtle watermark for the images? Maybe just make it smaller?

Yeah, you could do that. Or you could make it lighter/darker to fit into the background. I don't know what software you use, but I use Photoshop and it's easy to just drop the opacity and make it more transparent so it blends better. That's just what I've done. I'm sure there's some other good ways of doing it too.
