Construction started in the early 1980s on what was meant to be a 3-story, 25,000 square foot, part private home, part bed & breakfast. Rumor has it, a divorce prior to completion left the home in ownership limbo, it has been abandoned since.
The structure remained relatively unscathed for many years but has suffered major vandalism over the last decade or so, mostly to the windows and interior.
Oddly enough, the 9.5 acre property is always mowed, perhaps it is now owned by the city.

I love #10! You should post that on the "awesome self portraits" thread.
When were you there? I was just there a few weeks ago. I brought along an unsuspecting victim, but I don't think she fully appreciated the art of exploring forgotten, unwanted, tetanus-riddled places. I don't see too much urban exploring in her future, considering how frightened she was of both the supernatural and the natural here, lol. I told her I've been to far scarier places than this and lived to tell the tale! She said that made her feel slightly better, but we still didn't stay too terribly long.

Did you notice that the active building next door is of the same construction? I believe it was built initially for the horses that never came to pass.
