if so could you post a few pics from the wider side of it? ive found one for a good deal, and it seems like a good overall walking around lens.

thanks!

Please don't. You shouldnt really ever buy a kit lens, especially when youre not buying the actual kit.

To dissuade you more here's some technical ratings: http://www.dxomark...OS-7D-Mark-II__977

hey thanks, i had no idea this was considered a "kit" lens. i just need something a little wider than my 24mm on a crop. this seemed like a logical solution

I just purchased the Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.0 Contemporary OS HSM lens. It is an outstanding walking around lens. Check out DXOMark's data on this lens if you want to compare it to the 17-85 EFS or any other lens. It is equally sharp as the highly touted Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. In fact, there are only 2 better options than this lens:
1) The undisputed crop-body champ: Sigma's 18-35 f/1.8 ($800)
2) A Canon's full frame 24-70 f/2.8L II ($2000)

At $400, I can't think of a better option. I would have more samples of this lens, but it just isn't wide enough, in my opinion, for exploring. I always use the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8. Another outstanding lens (check the DXOMark ratings for it) for $450.
