Yeah, I have noticed on Facebook... You guys and your lady friends. I only get boring standard men as friends and it sucks.

"You may want to be careful dropping names and locations of abandonments, especially on a public forum.. That is, if you ever want to be part of the local exploring community. It's typically frowned upon, and people will be very hesitant to share things with you, if they know you're willing to post it publicly. Just a friendly tip."

Neal to relik - Re: Good day. - 2015-11-30 11:47 AM

"I guess you don't understand.

Do you know what UER members have in common with the ISIS, Orthodox Jews, Mormons, and the Latin Kings? They all have the "them and us" mentality.

The key word here is outsiders. But I refuse to be part of any "them and us" mentality - I prefer to lead by example.

President Obama recently made an announcement that he didn't like the way the media portrays police-related shootings (particularly White cops shooting Blacks) simply for portraying the "them and us" mentality.

I've been a victim of "them and us" relationships my whole life. Stuff like snitching, paying back the money you owe, giving the disadvantage of the doubt, etc., are all included."

Neil, this hobby is based on trust. We have no trust in you right now because we know nothing about you, so you get nothing (locations) in return.

If you want to gain our trust, you can do that slowly and carefully, on a person-by-person or person-by-community basis, and then not be treated as an unknown outsider, which is exactly what you are to us, and we to you.

Or, if you don't want to build those trusting relationship and just want immediate gratification, I feel this forum is more for you.

If you want to protect the locations you love to explore, don't talk about them online in public!
If you want to make exploring friends, send people private messages! Meet up in real life! Get off the internet!
Don't try to have a UER e-penis! You won't impress anyone! This especially means you, Minneapolis MN newbies!

There isn't always.. Usually when someone asks for hand outs, it turns into a shit show.

Hey that link doesn't work.

Well, sure, I believe that some humans on this planet know you. I don't expect you to exist in a vacuum.

The problem isn't that nobody on Earth knows you. The problem is nobody active in the community here knows you.

Thanks, I had to go look for what you were referencing:

http://www.nealirc.../DaSewersBaby.html

Nice gallery of storm drain explorations. I wouldn't exactly call that sewers, but it's more underground drain tunnels than I thought were explorable in the Chicago area. I like drains. So you get a bonus point for that.

Most of the locations I posted in this thread, were already mentioned by me in my own thread. It was simply a repaste of all my combined posts in 1, and nobody snapped at me there.

I almost thought whoever started this thread was 1/3rd trolling as I already started a Chicago locations thread just a few days apart. All they got to do is read.

the fact that there are 2 Chicago threads days apart asking for handouts on locations is ridiculous..... yet alone the fact Neal is here posting locations publicly.

Neal...

I respect you have been doing sewers for a while and I am sure other people do to, sewers are awesome. what we don't agree with is you posting coordinates to abandonment's and POEs on a PUBLIC forum. maybe you need to revisit the link on this page and find out exactly why we don't want these types of things posted on an urban exploring website. I don't even live in Chicago, but when I and other make trips out there we would prefer to not to have a locations completely ruined, secured, and sealed. and if ya want a place to crash for the winter I would suggest you stop revealing the spots you are squatting. for this is a public forum that ANYONE can see. and i highly doubt you want to be woken up by police and taken into a Chicago jail or worse. please just open your mind and try and understand why we wouldn't want locations plastered on a website that anyone with half a brain and a phone or computer can view.

Thanks...

Wow. I spent some time exchanging messages with Neal. I just put an end to that. Totally uncool to give locations. While that alone was reason to part ways, the fact that I'm an Orthodox Jew (probably the only one in Chicago who explores) just added insult to injury. I'm totally floored and what's worse is that the next time anyone contacts me on this forum or other social media about urbex I will forever had a bad taste in my mouth.

The locations I gave out are either well known or already graffiti'd, vandalized, etc., by gang members. I haven't posted any of the 3 locations Bilvavi messaged me last week.

Neal, I still don't think you understand what people are trying to say. Even if a location is public knowledge or is already heavily vandalized, it is still not a good idea to reveal those locations on public forums. Police don't care how vandalized a building is; they will still arrest you if they catch you trespassing. Vandals also don't care how much graffiti is in a building; they will still vandalize it.

My point is, please do not reveal locations and their POEs unless they are already included in the public database on this forum and even then, you should think twice before doing so.

I'm totally floored and what's worse is that the next time anyone contacts me on this forum or other social media about urbex I will forever had a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm sorry to hear that Bilvavi. I hope that we help you to feel more welcome in the future.

There's the crazy one, the photographer, and me, the driver, a mix of both. And we're a pretty kickass team if I do say so myself.

As the forum guidelines indicate we don't post locations in the forums. It's like if you work with sensitive information and are asked by your employer not to disclosed info outside of work. Same way if you work in a professional kitchen, you don't give out recipes or post them on FB. Not that I've been a member of the Latin Kings or ISIS but I am pretty sure that they have rules about this kind of stuff, too. I do respect Neal for not disclosing any messaged info. If you look around a photo website that rhymes with "liquor" you'll find recently posted pics and then do what I and others do...find, recon, and explore.
