New-ish to Detroit, anyone up for some exploring?

Hey Everyone,

Been lurking on UER for almost ten years but never got on the forums until now. I recently moved back to the Detroit area after spending a while on the west coast (Olympia, Tacoma mostly) and some other random places. No friends here anymore since the last time I lived here I was in high school, so I'd love to meet some cool people to go exploring with.

I've been to a few locations in the city so far, and I have a few on my list that I want to hit up or go back to, but I would prefer to not go alone. Anyone up for some exploring in the next couple weeks?

Also just for fun, thought I would show off a couple photos from a meatpacking facility I came across in Rochester, NY. As it turns out, it pays to hang around rail yards in derelict rust belt cities...

Don't see why not. I'm always looking to meet new people in the area!

There's the crazy one, the photographer, and me, the driver, a mix of both. And we're a pretty kickass team if I do say so myself.

If I'm in the area any time soon, I'll message you. Detroit has a lot of beautiful abandoned buildings, but at the same time, every time I've found myself in a dangerous situation exploring, it's been in Detroit.

Sidenote: If Rochester has abandoned buildings like that, Bill Finan needs to quit his constant complaining on Facebook that he has nothing to explore and that people wont take him to other cities.

I'm not too surprised...I have a CPL but don't like carrying while exploring for obvious reasons. Safety in numbers seems easier to me. Did you have trouble with cops/security or was it random sketchy people?

I don't know who that is, but when I was there, it was a gold mine. Lots of good places, although maybe some of them have been demolished since then or been locked down too hard. That was back in 2006/2007, a lot could've changed since then.

My boys and I have been exploring Detroit for 10 years. There isn't one neighborhood in the city that we haven't been to to at least count some shit out. Hit me up.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

I'm in the Flint area for a few days and would love to meet some for some exploring either in the Detroit area or nearby. Send me a message if you're interested!

I just moved to Detroit! I'm down to UE and meet new cool peeps at the same time! Message me and lets hit the streets. . . and then grab a beer, or a cranberry juice?
