Billinge hospital
wasn't going to put this up been sitting on the computer for a while. Have visited a few times with various people these photos were from dec 14 .. The whole place is a real mess now and surprised it's still standing to be honest. Rotting floors and pigeons everywhere. ( dead and alive) here's a bit of history and a little poem from one of the former nurses....
The Billinge Crew (Shirley Hill, June 2004)
This is an ode to the Billinge Crew.
All moving on to pastures new.
Some may retire, some to Wigan, some to Leigh.
Others might leave all together just like me.
One thing is for certain, this I know.
You'll never forget Billinge wherever you go!
It's not the place or even the ward.
It's leaving your friends that is really hard.
But you must leave with your heads held high.
And when people stop to ask you why?
Tell them with pride I belong to the Billinge Crew.
& we are special. Yes each & every one of you.
It may not be the same, but change is good.
Enjoy the challenge just as you should.
Keep the high standards that Billinge staff knew
After all we are the Billinge Crew.
Auxilliary, Clerk, Domestic, Manager or Nurse.
Remember - it could always be much worse!
You may have never been a member of the Billinge Crew.
But that team spirit was created by all of you.
At the end of this poem, all that is left to say.
Your life is about to change. It happens every day.
So open your arms embrace the chance to begin a new.
But always remember that you were once part of the Billinge Crew!
