| | | I found this place about 6 weeks ago but because of the vagaries of Houston weather (its rained every weekend since I found it) all I had been able to do is scout the location. Since its supposed to be more of the same this weekend, I headed out on my lunch hour and did some 'splorin'. I have been unable to find any of the history on this place, however as the 1st shot below will show, I'm sure many of you have seen its iconic advertisement at some point. If any of you know anything about it, please post here. At one time it boasted the following: Exotic animals, go-carts, miniature golf, and tree house await kids of all ages. Horseback riding, pony rides, hayrides, and train rides. Picnic tables and swimming available! Not much of any of this remains. Those were wooden alligators. A lot of resolution is lost on this uploader. If you go to my Flickr, you will see that the heads and tails were chopped off. Post by oakville_explorer Cool place how was getting from building to building inside the park. It seemed like it would be a 20-30 minute hard trek from most places to another based off the size of some active amusement parks near me and how overgrown the place seemed. | As a fat middle aged smoker I will admit it was a bitch! The place is extremely swampy, and I sank up to my knees a couple of times. The mosquitoes were as big as condors and I saw 2 water moccasins while trekking through the water. The place is huge and I dindn't get to the back were the go-cart track was as it was even more swampy. If/when I go back, I'm not going alone again and would advise the same for anyone else. The hazards here are so numerous that the risk/reward thing is way out of balance. To top it off, I heard gunfire, probably from a nearby farmer, not far away. Post by 2Xplorations another nice find, you got a nose for this u.e. thing.. | I draw my inspiration from a two time lifetime achievement award winner up north. Coming from you I consider it high praise, and really appreciate it - thank you.

| | | It's been a while since I last visited this place and since its close to home, I took Murky7 and his buddy on the 3rd stop of our Rurex trip this week. Mother Nature is doing what she does but the place is still in good shape a year later!
