Totally snuck up on me this year. It would be interesting to see how much the mines have changed since last years event though. I would definitely encourage anyone within range to try and make it out since it was such a great area and with experienced company.

Just remember to bring some extra gas and food/beer as the small market in Tecopa can get cleaned out really quick. Oh, and try not to fall into the rockhound pits, picture related.

^They had someone bring in a backhoe this year and he spent like 3 days filling in the holes and leveling the tailing pile to make it easier for people to park/camp. He also cleared out some of the large rocks in front of the mine entrance. They also cleaned up all the garbage around. It looked REALLY nice up there, they did an amazing job.

I didn't attend last year, but this year I had a lot of fun. They lead a lot of really cool trips and a ton of people showed up including some of the land owners. I got to chat with the gunsite land owner who is an awesome guy who wants to restore the cabin outside of it. I know an author of a popular mining book and some city officials were supposed to show up too. I was underground most of the time though so I missed most of that :p

Thought I'd share some of the photos I took at Underground 2015.

Incline Collapse
We actually climbed through this collapse to get to the top of the incline.

"Broken Tracks" and "Cavern" I remember being in the same area and visiting last time. There was a MASSIVE boulder still stuck in the ceiling of the cavern but a few people from our group climbed down to the bottom of the cavern and, I think, found a way back through. I am surprised those tracks are still even there at all. Bet El Nino will have wiped them out for next year.

Yeah, there is a way back through it. We went in through War Eagle, out of Grant and then walked over to the 'cavern' which I believe is the entrance to the Noonday mine. There's definitely more beyond that cavern, but we didn't go beyond it because it was the last day of the trip and we were pretty worn out. Maybe next time.
