| | | One time I found a room with one of those acoustic ceilings with an owl living in it. Pellets all over the floor, and beady little eyes staring down at me from above. It finally came out and flew out the window, it was rather pretty. Another time, i found a room with a door that was mostly closed, opened it and suddenly the room erupted with movement as dozens of pigeons all piled out the one broken window because i'd scared them. It was... startling. I'd say the most unsettling thing though was this weird little... office hut type thing i found. There were no windows in this thing, so it was dark. I didn't have a very good flashlight. I saw something move in a doorway across the room, but it was hard to tell. Looked like it could have been a mouse. I went to take a closer look and realized there was a thin, shiny web across the doorway like a tripline. Looked around the corner and saw the "mouse". It was the largest black widow i've ever seen. Realized i could turn on my camera flash and use it as a solid beam, the whole room was full of low webs in every corner absolutely full of black widows. Hundreds of them. Huge ones. I don't consider myself arachophobic in the least, but i got out of there quick.
