its your standard black leech the ribs help them expand once theyre full of your blood, some varieties of leeches are smooth, pebbly, multicolored, they all suck however...

2Xplorations is definitely correct. Thats a Blood-Sucking Leech, not a Slug, which some people get confused with. Slugs have little antenna looking things at the head.

Love the opossum pics...looks all nice and sweet, HA! let one reach adulthood and be defending their young.... the pointed teeth surface and I'm sure they would be glad to suck your blood too!

But, No Snakes!?!?
This is just a small harmless water/mud snake. Really pretty underbelly.

Never saw that variety. Ribbed for the leach's blood lust pleasure no doubt.

Encountered the biggest, skankiest, ugliest black sewer rat in a storm drain culvert near our house as a kid. It stared us down, then we took one step more towards it, then it charged towards us. Scared the shit out of us and we got outta there.

Worst I've seen is a rat in an old printing factory that ran away, other than that I haven't encountered any creepy creatures

One time I found a room with one of those acoustic ceilings with an owl living in it. Pellets all over the floor, and beady little eyes staring down at me from above. It finally came out and flew out the window, it was rather pretty.

Another time, i found a room with a door that was mostly closed, opened it and suddenly the room erupted with movement as dozens of pigeons all piled out the one broken window because i'd scared them. It was... startling.

I'd say the most unsettling thing though was this weird little... office hut type thing i found. There were no windows in this thing, so it was dark. I didn't have a very good flashlight. I saw something move in a doorway across the room, but it was hard to tell. Looked like it could have been a mouse. I went to take a closer look and realized there was a thin, shiny web across the doorway like a tripline. Looked around the corner and saw the "mouse". It was the largest black widow i've ever seen. Realized i could turn on my camera flash and use it as a solid beam, the whole room was full of low webs in every corner absolutely full of black widows. Hundreds of them. Huge ones. I don't consider myself arachophobic in the least, but i got out of there quick.

I've run into all sort of scary beasts in tunnels & sewer systems. These are just the ones I had the presence of mind to take photos of before either fighting or flighting:

Yeah, it's always fun meeting the occasional sewer rat, wildebeest, or eldrich abomination in an old basement.

Geez, this is a gross thread.
I'm not a big fan of the opossum, but did get this shot of two of them in my neighbor's backyard a few years ago.
Not nearly as disgusting as the one my youngest pup brought in the house a few months ago.

OMFG that is the cutest thing I've ever seen! I love opossums.
