I had some errands to run to Philly the other week, so I decided to make a day of it and do some exploring. I got into the one place with no issue, though I had to leave there early as I could tell I was not the only person in there.
The church was once a beautiful place, even in it's abandoned state. Not so much anymore. From what I had seen on Google there used to be an organ in there. I don't know it if was removed, or just became a part of the rubble heap inside, but it was gone. Amazingly enough, most of the stained glass was still intact.
Of course, not all the windows fared so well.
Down the aisle to the alter.
Nature is taking over.
Very little furniture remained. A broken pew and some three-legged chairs.
A few of these hymnals were left laying around. I did not check the date, but they seem a rather recent. I also saw a few of them that had been burned at some point.
As I said, I was apparently not alone in the church, so I left to move onto my next place. After Google Maps screwing up, I found the longer way to get where I wanted. While it meant some extra walking, I came across this heavily tagged, windowless factory. The nearby ambulance should have been a hint, because right after I snapped off a few shots, I heard this "ENT ENT" behind me. Ah shit! Sure enough, there was the old Blue and White. Gave over my identification and reason for being there, and luckily for me, because someone had stolen the "No Trespassing" sign, I was just warned to stay back from the building to shoot. Given that the other leads I had were a few blocks away, but I was already under their radar, I headed back to Center City for some regular shots.
