Was a little scared at the entrance... met a gentleman who I managed to scare as he thought I was a railroad worker looking to kick him out of his campsite. Once it was clear that I was in fact not any such thing, he helpfully pointed me to what I was looking for. Wonderful experience!

And really, what jurisdiction does a railroad worker have over parkland? I don't know.

I appreciate your subtle pointer on how to get into the creek! I had spent hours looking around at the park just immediately north, gazing down longingly at the creek through manhole covers with no steps of any kind.

Wow those are some awesome photos. As of now I've only been to a few caves but drains and underground creeks are definitely on the list. Some of that graffiti is sweet

Though "tagging" is pretty dumb, I do enjoy a well thought out and executed piece for sure.

That is exactly where I stand on graffiti. Some of it is genuine artwork and I can appreciate that, and it honestly does make some of these concrete tubes more interesting. I can't stand the chicken scratch tags that most people just put up everywhere, they're just annoying and not cool to look at.

I agree, or on a natural cave wall or something along those lines that takes away from its original beauty rather than adds to it. There is something beautiful about hand placed century-old limestone bricks or natural layers of water-worn sandstone or what-have-you, and nothing needs to be added to it (or taken away for that matter). Whereas concrete is boring for the most part, and a good piece is welcomed in my opinion so long as it is in good taste. The definition of good taste can be debated, but a lot of the stuff in these photos seems pretty decent

glad to see you all aren't complete dicks and condone the tagging of 100 year old brick work and hand dug tunnels. great spot though, this is one of my favorite creeks in MSP thanks for sharing and reminding me of this. gonna make a return trip sometime this week.

Clarification: I do NOT condone the tagging of the brickwork or sandstone. However, in most cases if there is an awesome piece on the side if an otherwise boring grey concrete tube then I can appreciate it.

Im not 100% sure which one of the creeks this is, but I found out that there is a tunnel that drains into a lake a block away from my house that runs for 5 miles and then intersects with one if these creeks. The 5-mile tunnel crawl doesn't sound fun at all so id just find a better way in, but still interesting nonetheless.

Yea, I am very interested in checking that one out as well. The underground creeks hold my curiosity for some reason.

pretty good viewpoint. I stand with you. I love almost everything in these pics

yeah don't get me wrong, if its a RCP (round concrete pipe) go ahead, throw a big fucking peace up. temple of the drown cat is a perfect example. if your going to walk miles down boring, unchanging architecture the tags can add a little bit of fun to the situation. but I hate seeing tags on places that don't need it. caves, old brickwork, even untouched drains.

Not to be overly pedantic, but it's Reinforced Concrete Pipe.

Other than that, I'm 100% with you. Tags and paint on old bricks and caves bugs the shit out of me.

I must say I really dig the artists that do an design around the whole tube. Very psychedelic and cool.
