Looks like this one may be going the way of Letchworth - fucking shame too. This place was beautiful back in the day. The following is an excerpt of the Hot Springs redevelopment plan. The entire document can be found below, this is from page 17:

Recommended action
The City of Hot Springs is currently in the process of acquiring the former Majestic Hotel site and is working with both the U.S Environmental Protection Agency and the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality for technical assistance and funding remediation and cleanup of the site. The acquisition of adjacent vacant properties, if feasible, could increase the economic potential and the prominence of the site’s redevelopment. Prior to demolition, the City of Hot Springs should salvage architecturally significant elements of the building, such as the metal letters forming the rooftop sign, urns, fireplaces, and light fixtures. These elements should be stored for re-use in the redevelopment of the site as a reference to the significance of one of downtown’s lost jewels.

At least they'll save the sign and some light fixtures - that should preserve 100+ years of history...

One of my favorite places I ever found myself by dumb luck. This was my first major exploration and broke the seal for me. I was able to explore it before some asshole tried to burn down the whole place last year. It still stands and is worth a trip, but it's getting worse every day. Also more difficult every day. She is gorgeous still.

The fire that ripped through this place took 22 hours to put out. I have no idea what's still inside or how safe it would be to explore. My kids live about an hour from there so I'm gonna try and make it up to see whats left by the end of the year.

I've been inside pre and post fire. Still worth the trip.

I just got back from Fort Smith, Arkansas two days ago. I came really close to heading toward Hot Springs, but I was low on gas and funds, and decided against it. Now I wish I'd gone! Well, now I know to make it a priority...
