While hiking the lake minnetonka regional trail I sat on a bench with a good view of the moon andbig island.
The only way to this island is by boat. I found myself contemplating the amusement park that was here in 1905. Back then the park was accessable by TCRT. I have heard there are still some ruins of said park here. Has anyone been across the lake to see how much of the old park is still left?

Personally I do not know anything about it. I have an inflatable kayak that does pretty well across open water it would be fun to check the place out with that, provided it isn't a huge distance to paddle. Ruins or no, an island hike 30 mins away from where I live seems pretty worth it.

We did an expedition out there a few years back, I think we lowered everyone's property values by having the shittiest boats on the lake.

There's a semi-active scout camp built on some of the park foundations, and a few ruins around the island. Nothing really large left of the park, although there was a little castle/fort thing on the beach. A few people found old coins and trash that might be from the park days.

Big Island is major bro-boater territory during the summer. Apparently when you have a boat on Minnetonka you are required to drive to Big Island, park in shallow water, and wade around your boat buffing and waxing it with your shirt off while your trophy wife suns herself. Typically everyone on the lake does this at once, I think it's a law there or something

Turn off the internet and go play outside.

Wow, is there anywhere you haven't been?

Thanks for the info. The laymans description just says there are ruins there. Its nice to get a description from another explorer that knows what to look for.

Its funny, if you fo a google search of big islands you just get tons of pics of bro-boater conventions.
