Capstone Documentary

Hey all, so I've been interested in urbex for a few years now. I've found some really incredible things while exploring and I decided that for my senior capstone project in high school I would make a documentary on the subject. I'm going on a road trip with a few friends in April and we're going to stop at several locations along the way. I'm incredibly excited, and would love advice from anyone who has experience in the matter. I also have a couple questions:

1. Is it worth it to try and get permission to access a location? I feel like there's a good chance that if I request it I'll get turned down and there will just be a greater chance of getting caught at that point. So I'm trying to weigh out the pros and cons of having permission or just going ahead with it.

2. Is there anyone I should interview? I feel like it would be really cool to get some statements about urbex from some people. Such as why they got into it, what keeps them coming back, any explorations that really stuck with them, etc.

I'm still working on the list of locations, but if anyone has any that I should check out feel free to pm me. Thanks for reading

1. I have been somewhat more inclined to try and get permission for certain locations ever since an unfortunate incident in an abandoned mall last April. That being said, a blown out shell of a building is probably easy enough to get into and (in my opinion) obtaining permission is unnecessary. On the other hand, relatively nice buildings that are locked up tight and/or regularly patrolled by security are worth trying to get permission to explore.

Because your reason is academic in nature, I would imagine that you will probably have some pretty good luck in obtaining permission. Either way, it's worth it to try since it could result in an explore you would have never gotten away with otherwise.

2. I haven't really been on the scene long enough to do an interview but I would imagine that if anyone on here wants to be interviewed, they will contact you. Also, don't be afraid to reach out to people to ask them! Again, if you never try, you'll never know!

There's the crazy one, the photographer, and me, the driver, a mix of both. And we're a pretty kickass team if I do say so myself.
