Video 1

Video 2
https://www.youtub...laRjKtl-iLqM3-_I7M

I took these videos wile exploring over 30 miles of railroad near my place here in Canada the line is no longer in use. The line now sits rusting away so I set out to record it before its too late having explored 30+ miles out of 53 of this ones used line by the former Dominion Atlantic Railway.

I took over 800+ pitchers of it mile pure mile lift nothing unexplored I have plans to return to finish the line.

Here a link for the pitchers I took due to there being a lot I can not post any of them here and please do not copy them or download them.

It amazes me that rail was ousted by 18-wheelers for bulk transport across long distances. It's a sign of the "on-demand" or "just in time" economy that society seems to demand.

Stuff coming from Ontario or heading there is now just "18 hours away" when you can just hook up the container(s) and a driver brings it the next day. People just aren't willing to wait anymore it seems. Preparing a train can take days for the logistics to get it all together and ready to roll as one giant shipment.

Cannot believe the cost effectivity (even with a few extra days involved) didn't hold it's luster in the eyes of the market. I guess the costs just came too close and "faster" won out. It is sad.

Everything will eventually come around. In 15-20 years when crude is reaching costs beyond our dreams right now, efficient bulk transport may have these lines laid again.

So for now, all they see is lost wood and steel. Long paid for and profited from. That's why it's so easy for them to let it go (for now).

This Video was taken in winter at the Windsor rail yard the snow was 3 feet deep in some places making exploring impassable.
