During a trip to the area a couple of weeks ago, I found myself visiting this particular mental institution for the fourth time since April. I'm not generally big on repetitive return trips so close together, but for whatever reason, this place makes it work. I love it here. As monotonous as some of the wards are, it's got a lot to offer, and there's still plenty I haven't had the time to check out. I look forward to visit number 5.

Big thanks to EsseXplorer for providing helpful tips earlier in the year, and to Superphoenix for joining me on my most recent visit. The photos below were taken during my July and August trips.

Even greater, they're in the same building.

Same here. Good thing, since it's one of the last remaining asylums.

Thanks for the compliments you guys, I appreciate it.

And yeah, that bowling alley/theater building is really something. Seeing it in person for the first time was spectacular.

Not an attempt to hijack your thread bud, just wanted to thank you for the post which pushed this location to the top of my list of places that can be a day trip. Made two trips there in the past two weeks and even though it's right on the border of what I'm willing to drive just to stay for the day, it was worth getting up at 3am !!

Definitely worth the trip for anyone who hasn't made it. Talk about feeling like a mouse in a maze looking for a piece of cheese though. All the wards look exactly the same, and there's a lot of them. Kinda easy to lose track of where you are. I recall reading some where that back in the day this place had over 9,000 patients. That's a lot of rooms !!

Good stuff, glad to see the place is still holding up. You got around pretty well too. I heard there were some recent attempts at sealing parts of campus, did you see any evidence of that?

There were town workers in one of the buildings one day, and someone is obviously making some attempt to secure the place, but they're definitely losing that battle. Regardless, if you're willing to get your feet wet you only need one entry to see the majority of the campus.

No problem man, glad to hear you had a good time there! I agree about the size of the place, it can be pretty disorienting. Even with a little DIY map I still ended up getting turned around haha.

I made that mistake a good four or five times before I said fuck it and started bringing rain boots. My feet have remained warm and dry ever since.
