I've never had any regrets when I've gone places, (although I definitely have come very close to) but there have been so many times I've planned on going somewhere, put it off too long, and found out the place was demoed, or re purposed. It's also always annoying when you put off exploring a building for a while, and when you finally do it's not gone, but it's been heavily vandalized, or partially destroyed.

I have a couple. Chippewa Lake Park was mostly demolished before I started exploring and it's barely 30 minutes from my house. I believe all that's left is the Ferris wheel, so I haven't bothered to go.

Also, I wish I had returned to Knox County Poorhouse before it burned down. I went in 2013 about a year after I started exploring and my pictures were...okay. If I had returned in the interim, I know I could have gotten much more out of it. At least I did get to explore the entire building once.

-spending just a day in Pyestock and never comin back before demo

I spent four days in Pyestock during the first half of 2010, with my awful point and shoot camera. I'll always regret not making the effort to go and re-shoot it with my camera I use nowadays (and have owned since 2011).

I was researching places to explore on my next trip over and stumbled across Knox County Poorhouse. I thought it looked great so bookmarked it as a place to try and see. Then the next thing I read is an article from the same day saying it had burnt to the ground.

The same thing happened with a printworks in Belgium, I had spent an age trying to pinpoint the location of the X-Press printworks and then two days after I finally nailed it down to Bruges it burnt down.

Definitely regret missing some places. My good friend has family that lives 3 minutes from the site of the former Haverford State Hospital. Demolition started in 07 and I was just turning 16 and had no idea it was even there. Another big regret was that I missed Pennhurst when it was wide open before it became privately owned. I even had a trip planned in 09 but everyone else going backed out last minute. I'm an old hospital fan, so essentially any of the big names that are gone/impossible now...Danvers, HVPC, etc.

I had heard about an abandoned chemical factory that was about to be demolished. I went to explore it the day after the company started.

There is an abandoned hospital not 10 minutes away from the same factory, that I explored. Didn't go inside, as I wasn't prepared that day (spooky crack-heads, etc.). The same demolition company now is working on that building.

I just wanted to cry when I heard that.

If it's any consolation, I live less than an hour from almost all of those, but I was not deep enough into UE at the time to put in the effort. I still regret not going to those places all the time, so I have tried to force the memory - but not the lesson learned - from my head.

Sitting outside of Met State and Gaebler about 4 years prior to actually getting into UE...and not going in. While it's certainly not much comfort, I definitely wasn't even mildly prepared for a true explore...not sure if I even had a flashlight. Still, what I would give to hop back and give myself a chance to see those spots.

Westport power Station. rode past it on the train as a kid so much. was demolished about a year or two before i started exploring. always thought it looked so cool. then i saw photos of the inside. It's the only power plant I've seen that had mine carts and tracks on the inside.

If I had a time machine, Westport is on the list of places I would 'pop into'.

Aside from various buildings that were demolished, I regret that I don't have some of my fav older shots on film instead of digital.

Wow. Forgotten and damaged buildings guys? Really?

Any serious injury resulting from doing stupid shit while exploring is going to result in your biggest "exploration regret" LOL.

I just found out about a place only around an hour away, and it looked like everything I had ever wanted to explore.

http://abandonedon...n-cincinnati-ohio/

But it was torn down within the last two years unfortunately.

I've been really motivated lately to go out and explore so these experiences don't keep happening.

I had completely forgot I had fractured my wrist climbing and exploring years ago until I saw this post. The only thing I regret is not seeing more.

I don't regret having scars, at least I have them for memories. What I don't have is the sd card from my recent explore that went horribly wrong, it got dropped during a rapid escape.

I took a rusty nail right through my foot, stepping through a dark corridor.

I regret not having a first aid kit. Or stronger footwear for that matter.

I always regret missing any building that has been demolished, remodeled, etc because I was using the "I'll hit it next week" excuse....

Amen to that.

There have been a few I've meant to explore, only to find they've started or completed demolition on them.

My first explore was an old college, which had a gym I was interested in seeing. By the time I finally got around to it, the gym was gone.

Definitely the places I never got to explore . So many of the locations around here have been demolished or are in some stage of being converted into pretentious overpriced condos/retail space. About half of the places I'd almost gone in, but was either ill-equipped to gain access or alone and feeling like I needed an enabler/partner-in-crime to egg me on.

Also, not getting into photography (until fairly recently) to document them prior to being destroyed/renovated.
