Hey there. It's been a while since I posted (or explored, unfortunately), but I thought I'd post some photos from an old paper mill I visited a while back. These are all photos from several different visits, but I'll try to narrate a few of the most interesting parts.

This is the thread where I posted my first pictures of this site, if anyone is interested.

http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post5

By the way, this is going to be very pic heavy, just a heads up. Here we go.

1. Inner Reflection

2. Peeling Exit

3. Blackout

4. Glowing Green Dome

This one is actually the roof of a large storage tank, from inside the tank. There was a large rectangular hole cut in the wall, so I was able to just walk in and take a some photos.

5. Ready to Install

6. Kiln of Lime

And this is just a tank of some kind, probably meant to hold high pressure/ heated substances, judging by the material.

Now, I've mentioned in other threads how this particular location has not been cleaned up in terms of chemicals, so here are some pictures of chemicals.

7. Sulfur on the Rails

8. Double Vision Lime

9. Barrels and Barrels of Fun Lime

10. Fennosil

A close up of the label on the containers below.

11. Fennosil Spillage

Note the leak on the floor. Now, back to the rest of the photos.

12. Day Lit Machinery

13. Last Track to Reclamation

14. Everyone Made it Out

15. Inanimate Pleading

16. Industrial DJ

17. Light at the End of the Smokestack

There was a hole in the bottom of the plant's smokestack, so I leaned in and took a photo of the inside.

Then, I climbed up to the top of a three story chemical tank, which had a nice view of the mill. I couldn't stay long, however, because a storm was rolling in, and standing on top of a three story metal structure in a thunderstorm is always unwise.

18. So High Up...

19. ...I can See Everything

20. Don't Look Down

Climbing down, I wandered around the corner of the next building and found this:

21. The Mask! It Does Nothing!

Easily one of the worst things I've ever smelled, my dust mask was completely ineffective at holding the stench of raw sewage at bay. It wasn't that my mask was faulty- the stench was just that strong. I didn't linger there.

With the rain rolling in, I decided to call it a day, and went home. The following pictures are from my last exploration at this location.

When I went back, I managed to find the mill's chemistry lab. This was the only place they bothered to decontaminate, and with good reason:

22. Please Tell Me You Cleaned Up

However, a lot of empty containers and lab equipment were still intact.

23. "You cook in a round- bottomed flask Jesse, not an Erlemeyer flask!"

24. Empty Bottles

25. Chemistry Lab

26. Shattered Reflections

After I finished exploring this area, I went outside and made a mistake. A bad one. I watched as some workers from the adjacent scrap yard who had been working on this sight leave in their truck, and, assuming it was now empty, entered the scrap yard itself.

1. Towering Wrecks

2. A Place to Hide?

Just as I took this picture, I saw several workers who had been out of sight walk out into the main yard, and I ducked behind this pile of cars. Unfortunately, they saw me, and long story short, I ended up with the police on my front door talking about "industrial espionage." On the up side, nothing came of it, so I'm good. I just can't go back to that paper mill.

I made a thread back when I got caught, and some of you may or may not remember it.

Anyway, I think I saw most of the paper mill, so this just means I close the book on this location and go find some others.

Well, that's about it. Thanks for bearing with me, and I hope I did it justice.

I've been waiting for the set since you started that thread, great post.

22 is pretty scary though.

Thanks! Yeah, I definitely did a double take when I saw that sign. Fortunately, it looks as though everything was cleaned up in this area. Besides, I didn't stay in that area for long- just long enough to photograph it. No need to tempt fate, and all.

Thanks, I wanted to climb inside and get a picture straight up, but that wasn't an option. The bottom of the smokestack was full of either ash of pigeon crap, or perhaps a mixture of the two. In any case, it wasn't something I was particularly eager to step in, so I had to settle for leaning through the hole in the wall without touching anything.
