A whole month with no explores makes mookster a fed up boy.

It's about time I got out again, and it's fair to say this was a cracker. Nestled in a small village in deepest darkest England sits the tumbledown remains of a once grand rectory for the nearby church, which served it's later life as a care home until it closed sometime around 1995 going by the various dates inside. Since then it has sat quietly festering, collapsing and getting more and more gorgeously decayed as the years passed. With next to no 'real' vandalism it is a gloriously undisturbed example of what happens when nature is left to run riot over a building.

Apparently the owner of the building lives in a cottage opposite, which looks derelict itself with a selection of cars all covered in moss and algae on the driveway.

I explored this place twice, kind of - I first did a whole sweep with my wide angle and then went around the entire building again with my 30mm prime lens to give a different take on the place, those shots will be at the end of the post.

Nice set! I really love the vines along the wall in #9 and how one side of the shot is darker than the other, good work.

Managed to get this in the wrong section again, lol. I don't know how I keep doing that.

The vines were lovely, I really liked that room.

Absolutely amazing, I love me some natural, unassisted decay.

Ask me if i like these!?! I DO, indeed I DO! starting with 4...do we go into that room or down the stairs? Does anyone see what looks like a hand coming out from under that bedspread in 5? Darkness of 7 is awesome. Lovin the ivy in 9 and 22. One of these old folks like to rock to Bowie...lol. Good for them!

Yes! As I was scrolling down, I was beginning to despair that the Bowie reference in the title wasn't going to be what I assumed it would be, but there it is in #18--my favorite Bowie record! I spy Scary Monsters in that shot, too.

I looked at these last night and was going to make a comment about the nice decay in the 3rd and 4th photo, but then I hit the vine growing across the interior wall and it was like the wolves were released from there down. The shots just got so overwhelmingly better and better that I knew I needed a day to digest them and come back to the thread. And still, I'm rolling through them again and there's just so much interest shown here that I can't think of where to start and what to say!!!

Thanks guys, I think the fact it was one of my favourite locations I have explored this year has shown in the images. This sort of thing is my perfect level of dereliction to shoot, I just loved how unspoilt it was. It's tucked away in a small village in the middle of nowhere so has avoided being wrecked by anyone.

I couldn't get a photo of it as it was too dark and in an awkward place but the wallpaper on the left of #19 went all the way to the rear of that hallway and was held up by nothing except the three nails holding the pictures onto the wall - I love stuff like that.

Most American houses have a functioning roof. Guess thats what you get in a socialist country

Great set. Photos are well framed and every one interesting. The place reminds me of the TV series "Life After People"
