Since I usually don't take photos, I'm pretty inexperienced at this, both with the photography and editing. I was using my (ancient) point and shoot, and tried to salvage the photo... yeeuuup. The rest of the photos were so blurry or over/underexposed I couldn't do anything :/

That's a pretty killer shot.

I would not guess this was taken with a point and shoot! It's a great shot! The bottom is a little dark. That could easily be fixed in Photoshop with an adjutant layer and a gradient mask. Could also be worth playing with the "luminance" setting.

And therein, as the bard would tell us, lies the rub.

Waaawww. Fantastic. Excellent. Beautiful.

My only nit pick is to level it. Get that building going straight up/down.

Keep it up. ;)

I would be incredibly interested in seeing the original of this.

You can definitely tell it was underexposed and you bumped up the brightness from all the grain in the sky. I'm sure it's more apparent in other areas too in a larger version. I would suggest running it through photoshop and seeing if you can get the noise down. Also needs to be straightened out a bit and the buildings in the center might look better if they were sharpened just a bit. I'm also curious if the highlights were toned down because bumping those up just a bit might give it an extra kick.

It really is great shot aside from the quality issues though. And those are to be expected when shooting with a point and shoot. You did a nice job composing the shot, and a really nice job with your post processing. I agree with whoever said it doesn't look like a point and shoot camera shot.

Point & shoots can be pretty powerful cameras. Most of the time, it's not the camera but the person behind the camera. Good job!

thanks for giving it a try

Oooh! I like it a lot! What is it they say...? The camera takes an amazing picture just like oven bakes a tasty cake. ;) It's not your gear, it's if you know how to use it.
