Five different photos, at five different locations with various edits. I have always loved these five specifically, but I am curious as to what others think.

Beautiful images, all with fantastic composition. #2 takes a little longer to read with it being black & white and having so much going on in it. The green in #5 seems a bit out of place. Both nitpicks on fantastic shots.

Thanks Seahawk, I did create a colored version of Sin City but it was borderline clown vomit. I may return to it and try and rework it differently though. As for the green in number five, there isn't much you can do to get around it due to where the statues are situated. Thank you for your comments though I do appreciate it

They each have great detail without overly doing the HRD. Were this HDR or exposure stacked?

Thank you ccsucher, all of them except #5 are stacked and I usually do a light processing in lightroom and then use google nik in photoshop to put on the finishing touches.

Thumbs up for Nik software. I could not live without it.

1. It feels just off level. Rotate CCW maybe 0.5º.
4. Too far on the stacking.
3. Almost too far on the stacking IMO.

2. The coolest shot here. HDR may not have been necessary to get the feel of the room, you'd get more realistic shadows in the shot which can prove to be interesting. Also since you were basically in the middle of the aisle and basically centering your frame on the altar, I would have finished the job in both of those areas. Level it, center it, and make sure you're centered.

Keep up the good work, those are some sweet locations.

I couldn't agree more, Nik is a necessity.

Thank you flySparrow, when you mean to far on the stacking what do you mean? I appreciate the critical approach as I always look for ways to becoming a better photographer.

Yeah NIK is cool but so is the built in HDR in Lightroom. Will post some pics from it in a bit.

In my nitpicking opinion:

#1 Great dynamic range! Gritty look, I like it. Highlight correction is just a bit too much at the stairwell, the whites are not dirty gray yet but I'd certainly keep a bit more of the highlights intact. Also I'd correct the horizontal perspective.

#2 Again cool dynamic range! I think it's hanging to the right a bit.

#3 Nice calm feeling, a tad dark but it works for this one.

#4 It's a bit tight, I'd have done a few steps back to get more of the poster and keep the magazines away from the edge of the photo. This one is the least urbex-y to me.

#5 Pretty cool and weird, love the colors! It's a pity that the top of his head is chopped-off.

Bvmblebee, no problem, take my advice with a grain of salt and hopefully it helps you at least a little bit.

When I say too far on the stacking, I mean it's a little too harsh-HDR-looking. Like the photo could stand to be interesting on its own without the qualities brought upon it by HDR. Some shots are really cool when HDR'd, but the one of the book on the bed would be a perfectly interesting shot (IMO) without the added qualities of HDR.

Hopefully that makes sense. Like I said, you're doing awesome here, keep it up
