Damn. At least they made it to a hospital, hopefully that means they'll pull through.

Facial trauma + leg injuries = doesn't sound life threatening, but holy cow, is this a bum year for urbex in the cities or what?

^Which means next year will be an awesome one for ghost hunters :p

All these reports are pretty crazy though. Seems like urban exploration is gaining a lot more media attention, maybe that's bringing a whole less experienced/cautious people into the game.

...though the last few injury/death of explorer articles I've seen were from the MSP area... so maybe it's just the MSP elite weeding out the n00bs :p

Are these all alcohol/drug related? Or are people genuinely making that many climbing mistakes?

That's a damn good question... It's hard to know.

It's not just an MSP thing. We've had at least one death and another accident in Texas this year. It's sad, because it is a totally avoidable situation. I do believe the woman that died in Texas was drunk, at night, using her cell phone at a light source.

Tips:
Never go alone.
Never go when during the influence.
Always bring a proper light source (preferably a backup as well).
If possible, attempt during the day to familiarize yourself.

Reading through the article I noticed 12:15am ..... I'm terrified of falling through a floor in daylight, I can't imagine exploring a mill with so many holes in the middle of the night.

I assume that's why people drink, to take off the edge

Dude is lucky, dropping four stories and surviving that.
Hopefully he learned a valuable lesson from this.
