Ghost towns and rural abandonments in eastern NM

Having lived in eastern NM for about 3 years now, I'm basically in that weird area where the exploration spots for the South and SouthWestern sections are equally accessible.
Any ways, after making some effort to do a little trip out to Glenrio straddling the Tex/N.Mex stateline, I've begun to dig up other ghost towns from various sources.
One particular town that has been catching my eye as of late is this one that used to be south of Tucumcari call "Ogle".
I found a rough map of it from one site and then mentally overlaid it with a Google Maps sat pic.
I'd probably still feel like getting a look at it on the ground despite the only thing in the spot being what appears to be four wall and no signs of even a dirt road around.
That and there appears to be an active cattle ranch within the area as well.

Still, looks like a good way to kill an afternoon.

There is absolutely nothing in Ogle. Zero. Lots of old farm and ranch houses out there on the plains though,

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

You're probably right about that.
Not to mention the houses I saw on the GMaps could've possibly been part of the original townsite and live on as ranch houses and such.

At the same time though, I have run across some lone structures here and there.
Grady has that old, Depression-era school(fenced in on private property though).
Causey has another abandoned school and other doo-dads that sit out amongst the shrinking town.
Then of course there's Melrose about 25 miles west of Clown-Town(Clovis) that has a mostly, boarded up, Main street.

BTW, I checked out some of the places in your album and they truly are amazing.
But Vaughn at least still has that truckstop across from the Oak Tree Inn/Diner that has a popcorn machine!!

So after making a Carl's Jr run out to Santa Rosa for the hell of it, I made a beeline for a spot between Vaughn and Fort Sumner at the last minute.
Passed by this place plenty of times when I was running a dairy route between Clovis and Willard for several months over the past, two years.
You've got a long abandoned store front on the southside of the 60, and then a still active post-office, a residence, and an old motel on the northside of the 60.
However, since I was just driving my pickup and not a 40ton moo-juice mover, I was able to park it easier and discover more of where this town used to extend into.

Here's a link to the gallery, didn't want to clutter the thread.

Not quite sure how many rooms the hotel had, but I'm guessing the entire, upper story was once partitioned by the looks of the wall studs in place.
Also, the place is usually locked up tight, but this time some recent rain and wind storms blew the door open and there were the sounds of all your typical plains creatures inside.
And then there was a fenced off area that looked like it could've been a cemetery, but there were no signs of headstones or anything of that nature.

You definitely live in an interesting area. Lots of history -- or at least things of interest -- but miles of nothingness in-between.

Melrose is near a pretty big USAF bombing range, so there are USAF electronic warfare simulators out there somewhere.

The EW Threat Emitters (Mini MUTES) are on trailers sitting inside a small fenced compound.

Went out and poked around the remains of Ricardo NM, just outside of Fort Sumner this afternoon.
Not much left of the town, but the old hotel was an awesome sight

Might go back around there and see if I can the old cemetery.

As far as those EW Emitters, I think there's one sitting just like that outside of Yeso.
US Air Force installation warning signs and all.
Plenty of MC-130 and V-22 Osprey action to be had out this way, that's for sure.

Ricardo. Nice! Don't see much from there.

You want to kill an interesting weekend? Go up to the Texas end of old Route 66 and head West. The old parts of the road, OFF the interstate, still have some weird old stuff. Concrete teepees and bizarre art deco gas stations and shit. The old Golden Circle Route that runs through Cimarron has lots of old stuff. The SE quarter of NM is tough, because its the Oil Patch and nothing lasts long out there. I put Orla, TX in the DB a year ago, and its GONE. There also wasn't a ton of interesting mining out in the SE corner. Some BIG gypsum caves down that way, but nothing to see except white walls. You get West of Carlsbad and North of Portales, things start to pick up.

That building pic, by the way, is proof of my Uncle's theory that the only problem with adobe is it only lasts a couple of hundred years.

Definitely sounds like a plan.
Last I was up that way was last September-ish when running a rare, over-the-road trip from Clovis up to Norman OK.
Definitely plenty of things to be seen in that part of the state.

Here's some pics of the interior.
By the sound of rattlers, collapsed 2nd story, and absolute lack of tagging, this place seemed to have sat relatively untouched by the casual observers.1.

I disagree, Roswell has Missle Silo's around it Ruidosohas an abandoned Ski Logde with a lift and there are a few ghost towns out in that area.
