Marco? Polo! Keep looking cops, you won't find me!

I was finally able to get north out of the city on a solo camping trip to the north end of Algonquin Park. Headed up Monday, the weather was half decent, the bugs were brutal but the living was good.

This is the life by Zen, on Flickr

My plan for the trip home was to scope out any new abandonments for future visits (only found one and it had security parked in front, but it's now on my radar), as well as to make a stop at the Muskoka San.

The drive to the San was uneventful, passed a couple O.P.P. cruisers along the highway and after a couple hours on the road, arrived at my destination. I parked the car a little further away than I normally do and walked down the road, defeated the perimeter and made my way inside.

I set up and started shooting and was making my way in the small part of the building I had entered in, when I heard the sound of a car...and music. My first thought was security, they will check the perimeter and leave. I headed up to a window to get a better vantage point of what I was dealing with and it was not security, but an Ontario Provincial Police canine unit suv. I grabbed a quick snap (which you have to look through the trees to see his tire) and then packed up and debated what to do.

Some shots...
First off, noticed this, not sure if it was there before.

This was the last shot, the one with the o.p.p. suv in it. Look in the trees to the right for his tire...best to view them all on Flickr.
You down with O.P.P? by Zen, on Flickr

As I thought about what course of action to take, 2 O.P.P cruisers pulled in and another canine suv. I watched as they gathered around and one of the canine officers briefed the others (I couldn't hear what was being said) Then they proceeded to go out of view, but I could hear them enter the building, They announced themselves and that they had a canine and if I didn't come out with hands up,they would release the dog(s). They had made their entrance a nice distance from where I was and seeing as they didn't know my exact whereabouts, I left via the p.o.e. I came in via and proceeded back to my vehicle, looking over my shoulder with the thought of seeing a dog, luckily they were busy in the building...wonder how long they searched for ;)

Cheers,
Zen

I love a good infil and evade! Great shots too.

Also, is that rat posing seductively, or is it just me?

Nice shots, I really like Free Refills and Ledger. It makes me smile whenever I hear about people getting away. Good work!

Thanks guys...and I think it's just you when it comes to that rat Places like the San, especially when you know the place well and the area round it, are well suited to a good exit strategy. Not only is the San a big place with multiple floors, but it also has wooded areas around it. Keep in mind though that it is on a point of land so you are also surrounded on 3 sides by water, which makes egress tricky sometimes.

It happens from time to time, but it does suck. I had really been looking forward to a few hours to shoot the place but ended up with like 20 mins lol

Thanks, though the funny thing is, I parked further away this time. Every other time I have been I have literally parked at the end of the road right by the gate...there's a little spot on the side of the road I use. This time I actually parked further away and I am guessing that walking down the road in view of the homes is more likely the reason. Next time I'm taking a boat.

I've gotta ask, what lense were you using for these shots? That depth of field is beautiful.

Thanks Dominus. All the shots were done with the Sigma 35 1.4 Art. Absolutely fantastic piece of glass.
