This was a part of our Brisbane to Cairns (Queensland Australia) road trip ...

When we pulled into this town I had to had to *had to* look at what this place was. Originally driving past it in the night I thought it was just a big row of shops, but then in the day time when we came back it looked like a theatre! It wasn't ... it was a Toyota dealership.

It was also really exposed to the main drag and surrounding suburbia but that wasn't going to stop us. Even with people on site the active mowing (?) business next door we crept under the gate (or over, I can't remember) and gained access to the interior ... which was also the first time I realised the shop we got into didn't connect to the rest of the building.

Okay ... lets try again.

With those previously mentioned surrounding bogans now watching us, we went outside and checked all of the doors which were totally locked up which was annoying because this building was so retro on the inside and looked like it had been decaying for decades. We then found an open roller door.

We were in luck!

Luck that was short lived because this little room only led to another fucking sectioned off part of the building but it did house two rare Toyota's and that was something pretty special... considering.

The sun was setting and we were thirsty. We didn't have time to waste as our eyes were set on the next major city - we were now a little limited for time.

This was the only place we didn't successfully get into on our entire trip.

I meant to post a whole thread on this place here, but I accidentally posted it on the Mid-Atlantic board, so go check out the rest there!

(More stuff from by Brisbane to Cairns roadie in Queensland, Australia)

So after the glorifying experience of photographing the Frosty Mango we came into the next city. One of the first places we hit up was this small graffiti ridden warehouse in the middle of a giant plot of towering weeds even though its exterior left little to the imagination.

It was such a bitch to get to. The prickles up North are fucking psycho - some of them were so intense they shredded through the sole of my shoes. Admittedly I could have come prepared with better shoes ... same with a USB cord ... and an AUX cord ... and water ... and more than one outfit ... and just, prepared in general.

We plowed our way through this huge field of weeds and gnarly dry grass before we finally got to the loading dock of the building. The place had been pretty trashed so it was to no surprise we found a door wide open and it was no surprise the building itself was one of the most boring things we found on our trip. Vandals had pulled a whole wall out of its fitting which lead to an entire door breaking off its hinges, held in mid air by rubber sealing. We noticed this after standing under it.

It didn't take us long to realise this was a locomotive maintenance warehouse for Queensland Rail.

We then left the property and although there was already a hole in the fence we had noticed not a single location we had explored yet required jumping a fence so, for the hell of it, we jumped that fence without anyone driving by on the main road batting an eyelid.

Its like people up here simply don't give a fuck.

This is an abandoned hotel located in Arkansas, was erected in the 1920's, and showcased the then-popular Art Deco style down to the tiniest details. The architect's use of natural lighting was some of the most impressive I've ever seen. I was also amazed at its incredibly solid construction on every level.

I had great fun editing the hell out of this one.
