... BZZZT ...

I'm been enthralled by the evocative, wonderfully detailed narratives of explores recently posted here. But, some of them have been a little too detailed!

I had to bite my tongue while modifying them to remove anatomically complete explanations of how the explorer got in, while trying not to damage the story. And for my trouble I know I've annoyed some of the authors. That's understandable; their posts are both good writing and good adventures, and to see them chopped has to be aggravating.

Please be mysterious about this aspect of your stories, and save these wonderful details to share over beers with your friends. Thanks!

Forum rules, http://www.uer.ca/...rrpage=1&pp#post0:

1. Don't reveal entry details publicly.

Terms of Service:

(v) When posting information about an exploration site, DO NOT POST HOW TO GET IN, or HOW YOU GOT IN. Also, do not post any photographs of the entrances you used (unless it's totally obvious like an open barn door).

Just for my two cents, I completely understand the rule (and don't think I've fallen foul), but as another member raised in a recent thread, does it apply to demolished buildings as well? As if it's been flattened or converted or whatever, surely it doesn't matter

My take; there's no need to conceal the POE of a demolished site. It's not as if the owner's going to block it up.

Also, if it's public property AFAIC there's no need to conceal the POE. I've explained the POEs of public sites I've documented, such as http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=31861 .

Then why did you edit my thread, unless you were too lazy or disinterested to read it to the end?

I thought something didn't seem right about the flow of that text!
POE info should be solely up to the right of the author and unless it's insulting, derogatory or just downright illegal it should be left unedited by a censor-board/'concerned third party'. If the entire thread wasn't absorbed before the heavy hand of censorship deleted the author's personal text, then an apology and a restoration of the original text is in order. Why blatantly censor POE info on something that no longer exists?

The points being made here are valid and understandable.

BUT...

The rules of the site are what they are. Ganesha is only the person enforcing them in this case. If you have an issue with the rules, talk to Av. This shouldn't be a big deal - Ganesha was understanding and nice about it, and no one's "in trouble"...

I'm going to go ahead and make this thread "Poster Only". Feel free to contact Ganesha or myself via PM or Contact a Mod if you have further questions about the policies, or the specific posts in question.

Well, there goes an angry man.

And, rightly so. Down at the end of his very interesting post http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0 I had overlooked this line; "Unfortunately this story has a horrible ending, which is that the house has just this past month been demolished."

ahhntzville, your post has been restored. I apologize; I made a mistake.

The forum rules and terms of service do state that POEs (points of entry) are not to be publicly revealed. Moderators have a variety of options to enforce this rule. If anyone would like to discuss a change of rules, the appropriate forum is here, http://www.uer.ca/...sp?fid=1&catid=777
