I hate the fucking kids. They ruin everything.

It's a shame this happened, but I always hate the comments that follow. I hate the mindset that every abandoned building is some death trap, and you're an idiot for even wanting to go inside. Unfortunately, it seems like most urbex-related deaths seem to be the fault of the person and not the building.

What do you hate about it? It's an amazing tower. People get killed there, whatever. How are you supposed to get ghosts to haunt a place without a little death now and then?

I personally don't explore at night for that reason.... But people make decisions and have to face the outcome. Sadly someone has now lost their life and that is a tragic thing to have happen and I hope all her friends and family can pull through this tragic event.

I should reiterate - I like the space, don't like the place. Space, to me, is just the raw materiality of stuff and its architecture. Place, to me, is space + its associated stories.

So, you're right: the space is great. To me, however, the place ain't great because of ghosts and stories and stories of ghosts and ghosts telling stories.

That's my hometown! It's a shame that happened, but everything about the situation was entirely her fault. And what was once a great place to explore is now is a highly-guarded shell of what once was.

Trying to remember... I think this is the... 3rd death (?) in the last 10 years there.

And it's never anybody known to our community. I guess with experience comes carefulness.

I will never understand the mentality behind suing someone because your family member knowingly trespassed on their property and got injured or killed.

Exactly. If people would take responsibility for their own actions and not toss lawsuits around, property owners might be a lot more friendly toward explorers/photographers/people who clearly aren't there to be destructive.

My computer's been out of commission, so I'm a bit late to this thread, but I'm not convinced the time of day really had much to do with it. She apparently died while ascending a ladder, and if I remember right it had been raining pretty heavily earlier in the evening - I think it's more likely she simply slipped on a wet spot and wasn't holding onto the rungs a tightly as she ought to have been.

I've yet to see any details on it, but has there been any news on whether or not alcohol was a factor?
