yay! my first official post, other than my introductory post, and it's with a played out location like the salton sea

this place is very special to me. i fell in love with it years ago through photography, which is how i found out about urban exploration to begin with, and it was game over from then on. i found out everything i possibly could about this place, and the next 8 years would be spent google mapping the area so often, that when i actually arrived last year, i knew every area by heart. i shot like shit both times i went because i was too busy having feelers and crying like a little girl.

anyway, here's to my first post after almost 10 years of lurking. i can't wait to go back and shoot like i know what im doing.

aaaaaaaaand i put this in the wrong section. batting .1000 here. sorry about that. i'm really not as dumb as i look.

Good stuff. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

It feels good to come off the wall and join the dance, doesn't it?

thank you! this is what i consider to be among the worst of my work. i was too busy feeling to think, and shooting from the hip, but these images will always be special to me simply because i thought i'd never go, and it's really what started all this for me.

it does feel good to dance a bit, although i don't dance near as much as i want to. being a small female, safety is a concern, so i don't do half the things i want to. i'm really looking forward to connecting with other pacnw residents to explore with.

Beautiful shots! They're well composed, but still manage a sort of raw grungy feeling. I can almost feel your feelers through the shots. Last one is my fave!

Welcome to the Pac boards. We need some new fish, and I look forward to more of your pics!

thank you! "i can almost feel your feelers"....that's about the nicest thing someone can say to a photographer. . i actually cried (and im no cryer) a lot out at that see, because i couldn't capture the feeling, the smell, the sound. it was SO important, and i just kept feeling like i was chasing others' images and not doing my muse justice at all. and then the gear situation. it was all bad. i can't wait to go back prepared. i've planned too return every january 18, the anniversary of my first visit

i'd like to say i "found" urban exploring through photography, which is how i found the sea....but i'd been doing it my entire life without knowing it was a thing. as i got into photography, i ran across the sea which led me to "urbex", and now here we are.

#5 is very nice; like trees are in the slow lane, only dimly aware of all our craziness.
