As I have failed to make any plans to get out and about this weekend here is another location from my archive and one which is a personal favourite of both myself and my good friend who accompanied me on both visits.
These two mills are the last remaining undeveloped structures along a once bustling docks area which was at one point full of various mills and other industrial buildings. They shut down many years ago and a lot of the buildings were converted into shops, apartments, restaurants etc but these two have so far been left out, sticking out like a sore thumb in the middle of large-scale redevelopment.
The first building was an oilseed crushing mill, built in 1862 and extended during the 1890s. It closed in the 1950s and was used until the late 1970s as a grain store and mixing facility for animal feeds.

The other building is a large Malthouse, the area to the right was only accessible over the walkway and it was way too rotten to explore as you will see. At one point there were four Malthouses constructed but only Nos.3&4 are left, which were built in 1901. In 1950 the No.1 Malthouse was demolished and replaced with the large concrete building.
This building was a lot darker due to most of the windows being bricked up, however it was another very interesting place. I had a heart-stopping moment when I almost fell through the top floor - the floors are covered in grains and this hid a weak spot which cracked very loudly and I jumped back as I felt the floor dip beneath me, scary moment.
