The Forgotten Laboratory

This is one from my extensive archive of locations, explored at the tail end of 2012.

Nestled on a still very much active university campus in my hometown was a laboratory building that had been disused since around 2007. Local schools were invited in to take what they wanted and after that the doors were locked and it was left as it sat. I was tipped off about it by a friend I had made who worked as a lecturer at the university in question so one day I decided to go do it. The building has now been cleared and reused, I was the only person to ever photograph the inside of it in it's old state. The room full of outdated oscilloscopes and other 'scopes' blew me away.

These were nearly all taken handheld so they aren't the best, plus I wish I had owned my 30mm prime lens back then to take some proper detail shots. Also I forgot to change the white balance on a few of the shots (nooby error! )

When I think about the few intact 'time capsule'-like places I have been, I often forget about this one for some reason.

Mookster, you've been rocking the house so much lately that I have been wondering what I did 6 months ago when you weren't even on UER.

That oscilloscope would totally be parked next to my rack of vintage synthesizers.

Note: I do not actually advocate removal of artifacts/stuff.

# 17 - Do you have anymore pictures of this? It caught my eye right away.

I honestly have no idea what most of the kit was, it may have been one it may not have been but it was interesting and shiny so caught my eye

I've got a few but none are very good - they were some of the original wooden interior panels from the building before it was converted into a laboratory, probably in storage in the attic space for decades.

Thanks! I saw Hebrew and (maybe) German so I was interested to see them in detail. Very interesting panels.

Buildings that basically serve like time capsules to the things inside are by far my favorite places. One building I found had a ton of stuff from the 60s lying about, including a Playboy magazine from October 1964, unfortunately some cheeky bastard ripped out the nudes.

My friend manhandled me up a roof once.
