It's not that there aren't any abandonments in Chicago, it's that many Chicago explorers are only into rooftops and cranes. And they don't want to scout locations in "dangerous" neighborhoods.

I'll go anywhere if there's two other people with me. Most suburban or rural locations I'll scout myself. Google Earth is your friend.

Yep, this is very true in Chicago! So often in this community our assumptions about what locations exist in a certain area are more a product of what the local community is focused on (or whether a community even exists), than what's actually available.
