As decided by the majority, this years MARMU (Maritime Meet-Up) will be happening in Shelburne!
There needs to be some serious, and rather quick planning, So I've done all the work for us! (You just need to confirm and show up!)

Itinerary for date chosen of August 7th to 9th:

    Friday, August 7th
    • 16:30 - Pick everyone up, double check to make sure everyone is prepared
    • 17:30 - Leave. Perhaps explore some things and/or have dinner on the way there.
    • 21:00 - Arrive at campsite, set up camp.

    Saturday, August 8th
    • 08:00 - Wake up, have breakfast.
    • 10:30 - Explore CFS Shelburne
    • 15:00 - Enjoy a late lunch
    • 15:45 - Explore the rest of CFS Shelburne until dusk. Return to camp for showers, dinner and sleep.

    Sunday, August 9th
    • 08:00 - Wake up, have breakfast, pack up camp.
    • 10:30 - Explore McNutts Island or Shelburne Boys School (BOTH PENDING APPROVAL)
    • 18:00 - Have dinner and drive home.

This schedule is generally flexible. If you want to see something different, please discuss!

Where We're Going:

    CFS Shelburne
    • Can spend a whole day here
    • Military theme
    • Numerous buildings
    • Gun batteries
    • Dank hallways
    • Plenty of mold

There are two other spots in the area that can be great secondary explores. Those are:

      McNutts Island
      • Military stuff akin to that of McNabs Island
      • Abandoned lighthouse keepers houses.

      • There are tours that offer ferrying to the island for $10/person round trip, though it's on a their schedule. I will make some phone calls and see if they can do a different schedule.
      • canadianman000 has mentioned that he may know someone with a boat that can ferry us over.

      Shelburne Juvenile Detention Centre
      • I don't know what this place offers, and I've never been inside.
      • Lots of buildings
      • Military stuff in the woods

      • This place is still up in the air, there are some people who may know some people, so we may be able to get allowed entry to the buildings, because it is otherwise locked up tight.

      Please Note:
      • Neither option is absolute.
      • We will not be able to do both during this trip. Please vote on which location you prefer.
      • We can do a day-trip later in the summer to whichever location wasn't chosen for this trip.

How Much Is This Going To Cost?:
Estimated total costs per person: $40
    • This price includes $10 to pitch in for food
    • does not include snacks

        Fuel:
        • Shelburne round trip: 440km (220km each way) + 200km for just floating around.
        • Gas is currently $1.16/L I cannot see it going higher than $1.25/L between now and then, so that's what I'm basing the costs on.
        • Trevor and I can carry 2 people at a cost of $15-20 per person for fuel.
        • I'll estimate a second vehicle of 4 people at $20-25 per person for fuel.

        Accommodations:
          The Islands Provincial Park
        • Located in Shelburne
        • 2 nights cost $53.40 for 6 people. $2.35 for every extra person
        • 6 people: $8.90 7 people: $7.96 8 people: $7.26
        • This site features hot showers and flush toilets
        • Firewood costs extra at about $5 per bundle.
        • Group sites do not permit alcohol, but I'm not your mother, so I won't enforce that.

        Food:
        • Pitch in $10 to go towards food for everyone
        • Fend for yourselves
                Nootz: Don't forget your hotdogs in your truck this time. (;

What To Bring:

Do you agree with this all ideas that are mentioned above? Please discuss!

You have until MAY 25th to decide. I will have the event page up for RSVP on that evening.

I really don't intend on forgetting my hotdogs in my truck this time.

Some things have come up so I will be unable ts post the event page until Sunday or Monday.

Thank you all for your votes. It looks like the second location is going to be McNutts island!
