Philadelphia - Reading Viaduct Spur rail park project moving forward!

Did a quick search and saw that some members in the past have visited the abandoned Reading Viaduct Spur (SEPTA elevated line) around 13th and Callowhill. A friend took me here a few weeks back, not terribly interesting and the only bldg is near ruin and inaccessible without breaking a leg, but a nice walk (and there's a good swing). I was excited to see on Phila Magazine's Facebook page that a plan and funding for a rail park there is near completion!

Thoughts?

Looks like a very worthwhile project! It's great when structures like this can be used for good rather than go to waste. The world could always use more High Lines .

I mean, he's kind of right (there are plenty more, especially nearby).

But a square is a rectangle but a rectangle isn't necessarily a square. Why let those kids ruin a perfectly good, if somewhat overexposed (okay incredibly overexposed) abandonment. It's a neat place, and it's sort of the crux of the abandoned side of the Spring Garden neighborhood.

I thought the most hipster thing to do in Philly was sit out in the middle of the sidewalk in front of a 'cafe' in Fishtown while drinking a cranberry hefweizen and talking about the 'sick felt homburg' you bought at the Goodwill in Frankford while you were looking for Steampunk/Cosplay accessories for Comic-Con.

You are the fuckin man ahahaha

Hipster or not, I think it's way better for the community than letting it sit and rot.
