So this was a last min trip back up to B-Town. A friend informed me that fences were being put up around the buildings and doors being welded shut (and they were not checking them for people first.... wouldn't that suck) so its looking like many buildings will be coming down soon...Happy to find the buildings I still needed to check out were not behind fences. Sad to find the auditorium no longer accessible.... wanted to hit the basement on that one no

Huh, I swung by here a couple Saturdays ago and noticed demo equipment sitting around. Looks like I was just in time before things were sealed for good.

Went there yesterday plenty of POEs in multiple buildings. Saw the grumpy ground keeper bording up a "$1,000 door" that had been riped right off the building. Siresoley how do people do that. I rember the autorium haveing the door and part of the frame and sorronding brickwork ripped right out like the Hulk was inside and punched it.

Sad to find the auditorium no longer accessible....

Every building on the campus - except a couple of the cottages and dorms - is accessible if you're willing to get a little dirty and/or wet. I like number 11.

Bring a dust mask if you go downstairs in the school/rec hall. Worst air I've ever "seen".

Yah My friend was just saying she was there the other day and many are reopened again... thats the beauty of b-town... things are constantly reopening. They did tear down several of the white houses and the hospital.

If you go to the left side of the entrance steps of the auditorium there is a large hole knocked through into the basement. I thought it was closed off as well. So far 3 of the smaller white houses and the infirmary have been demolished. They just started digging into the side of the main patient treatment building. Its sad to see it go so I have been visiting as much as I can lately. Good news is that the tunnels still exist although we had to get out while exploring deep into them because we could hear the sound of water rushing louder and louder behind us. We were there during a downpour. Not really into drowning in the B-town tunnels.

#13 is awesome! Power buildings and smokestacks are one of my favorite parts of old hospital complexes.

Bummer I went there last year a few times, unfortunately alone. I really wanted to see the theater but I won't go into buildings alone, I am too old lol Are these the white buildings you're speaking of?

Well fuck, I was hoping to make it up there at some point. Is that the only building (excluding the small houses) that have been knocked down?

Yeah, everything else is still standing, and most of it was as accessible as ever. I'm not sure which buildings they're doing next, but they had their equipment parked next to the infirmary.

Not gonna lie, I'll be a little bummed to see this place get razed. But at the same time, it's so far gone that its time has come.

100% agree. Its insane to see how trashed Belchertown got in the last 5 years.

No sense making any new posts about this place, but after a recent trip turned out to be a bust I decide to stop here on my way home. Despite the fact that demolition seems eminent, the only building missing at the time of this visit was the hospital. In case anyone is interested, here's how it looked a couple weeks ago in all it's decrepit glory. Just random shots from around the campus.
