Found this location while I was in the area for work. I returned a few weeks later with some fellow local explorers. We figured it would be a quick explore to start the day. We ended up staying over two hours. The place is bigger inside than it looks! I could not find much information on the place, other than it was used for malting grain for beer. It was built in 1900, changed hands a few times and was closed in 1986. Lots of graffiti and holes in the floor. The stairs are still intact, unlike most of larger grain elevators in the area, making a climb to the top pretty easy. The view from up there is excellent!

Sweet looking location and photos, I love the lighting in 3, 4 and 5. What's the deal with all those tubes in #10?

Thanks! It was a overcast day, but the sun came out as we were getting to the location, and the clouds came back just as we were leaving. The lighting on the mural was excellent. I believe the artist painted it in that spot for that exact reason. The rest of the room was very dark, but a hole in the ceiling let light in onto that wall.

As far as the tubes, best we could guess was some sort of filtration system. I found some pictures of the tubes posted on various websites by other explorers, but no one had a answer as to what they are/were.

That place has been pretty destroyed over the last few years.

Yup the place is pretty tagged up and lots of broken windows. I guess that's the downside of the location being wide open to anyone.

Do you know what the purpose of the glass tubes on the roof were? I am quite curious about this.

No expert here, but I'm guessing it was part of a heat exchanger that kept the energy released by fermentation from going to waste.

Looks like you are probably correct. I found several companies who make glass tube heat exchangers for malting use. I could not find anything on the scale of the one at this location. I am guessing as technology has progressed the size of them has diminished. Or this one was just unusually large. Thanks for the info!
