On our way out a member of the local police force happened to be driving past, and he stopped and we got a bit of a telling off but thankfully the language barrier meant he went on his way quickly. We were later told that he lived just down the road from here and had probably been heading home for lunch!

It was decommissioned in 2012 and demolished last year, NATO are going to be building a new communications satellite array on the same site.

this is sweet. I tried going to the Arecibo Observatory but SIRI had different plans which including offroading thru a drugfield with men in towers holding AR-15s.
