A forum to remember

I may have mentioned this a few years back, but what do people think about having a forum on UER where threads announcing the passing of members could be kept?

We set one up in the Cave Clan and with the exception of one member thinking it was morbid (there's always one) it's been great. Some people post future birthday greetings or new material (photos, videos, links, etc) on the person as it comes to hand.

Currently the UER threads get archived, but seeing threads for Ninj, Predator & all the other dozens in one spot might be nice.

Some may think it's cheesy (or a gory reminder). It definitely wouldn't get much traffic - the less the better as far as new threads go.

Cheers,

Doug

I dig it. Explorers have each other. Nothing more. I have friends here that I am closer to than IRL just because I spend a lot of time here but I would never be able to meet them. I don't want to sound light about it but a forum with just basic info and a link to their explores/post would be a decent tribute that wouldn't take much time/effort. And might help people who make friends at great distance have some form of closure as well. Just my thoughts.

I think it's a good idea, a nice way to honor the UERers before us.

^This. I think it would be a very good way to honor friends lost.

I started one on my cooking forum. Most of the members are older than on this group. Sadly we lose about one member per year. It's our way of honoring their memory. I think it's a nice idea here as well.

I recall a thread in "other" not long ago about 2 missing campers who were members here.

that being said, a memorial thread or pinned post someplace would seem fitting.

Alright, I created a category under 'Other' called 'In Memoriam'. Go to it.

I imagine it would work best if the articles were posted in a certain format, such as

8/22/05 - Ninjalicious (Jeff Chapman)

and new information or thoughts could be added to the thread.

That's pretty much how the C/C one is.
Usually a Mod will change subject to the standard heading.

I had a look but couldn't see it (I'll look again).
Edit: not awake properly.

Is it possible to move archived threads back into the active threads?

If so, I could start a thread where people could post links to archived threads to save you having to search for them.

Edit: by "you" I mean Av (or whoever can move them).
