G4 solar storm effects hitting Earth. Decent chance to see Aurora farther South than usual. Worth wandering out later tonight if you live North of the Mason-Dixon to see what you can see. http://boston.cbsl...hern-lights-south/

I tried to get a shot. I live in WI and me and a friend decided to drive about 20 min out of town at about midnight. We waited like an hour and some clouds started rolling in so we called it quits. I ended up taking this though.

Posted by ZenCanadian This was my take, about 2 hours north of Toronto.
Amazing! The colors are wonderful and you got them captured perfectly (though probably not as brilliant as being there, photos rarely are). Great job!

Post by DarkAngel Here are some photos from just outside Fairbanks, Alaska that I think you'd enjoy. They are mostly 4 second exposures on 1200iso from my D5100.
Fantastic photos! They bring back fond memories of when I lived in Northern Alberta about 1 hour south of the North West Territories border. we'd see northern light as bright as this numerous times every year.
