At a time when most people were sleeping in on a weekend, we were in the car under a dark moon lit sky on our way to a vacant sanitarium. Most Ontario explorers are familiar with the location, it's widely known and published.

As we grew nearer to our destination it began to lightly snow, a reminder that Northern Ontario residents have a much different winter than southerners do. The trek in was a difficult one as it involved walking (struggling) through two to three feet of snow the entire way. There was also an incident involving a car stuck in the ditch but with several of us present we were able to get it back on the road after the exploration was finished.

It was a repeat visit for myself but two fellow explorers had yet to experience this location, and I'd wanted to take some better photographs than my five year old point and shoot pictures.

This location has been on the agenda for demolition since 2012 but no progress has been made for redevelopment.

Nice set. I'm jealous, I would have trudged thru deep snow as well for a location like that.

I'm just generally amazed, awesome job. Time to smash my camera and replace my sensor with a potato, it'd probably work better after seeing this.

Love the first one by far. But, its all the little things yours eyes pick up on that truly interest me in your photos. The rainbow and butterfly in the 2nd pic... the speaker thats still hangs from the ceiling in that most crusty hallway in pic 5. All of These are Spectacular!

I'm blown away by the responses to this thread.

I feel that the decay itself, the colours and the architecture played a large factor into the end results. The photography was done with an 18-55 stock lens because my wide-angle Canon accomplice wasn't able to make the trip. This is why most of them are vertical, to allow more into the frame.

All things considered however, I'm very pleased with the results and equally pleased with the great support from all of you. It means a lot, thank you.

These are great. Strange to see a decaying building looking so bright and vibrant. Also, I hope you were wearing a mask. I was holding my breath just looking at these.
